About Us
In 1982, on the 21st of June – the day of the summer solstice – with the initiative of Jack Lang, the French Minister of Culture at that time, Music Day or Make Music Day (from French translation Fête de la Musique or Faites de la Musique) was celebrated for the first time with the aim of “bringing out onto the streets all musicians”.
About M.E.S.O.
Music Events Coordination and Organization (M.E.S.O.) is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1998 with the support of the French and Belgian Ministries for Culture, the support of the French Author Right Society (SACEM) and according to the international guidelines for all Music Day European coordinators.

The Athens Music Week is a weeklong music marathon held in Athens around the 21st of June, the European Music Day. Athens Music Weeks’ main goal is to enhance the role of Music as a tool for local development and drive innovation between the Creative & Cultural Industries, entertainment and the music industry, in order to foster curiosity, creativity, entrepreneurship, friendship(s) and social cohesion!
